For researchers who want to add a mobile phone component to their telephone surveys, SSI offers a mobile phone sampling frame for RDD sampling. SSI's mobile phone RDD design reduces the potential of coverage bias by providing researchers with two equivalent, complementary, and non-overlapping RDD sampling frames. SSI's mobile phone RDD product is a 2-digit RDD methodology (as is SSI's standard landline RDD product) incorporating 100-banks in both dedicated and "shared" or "mixed" service prefixes.

Trends indicate a growing number of people and households have only a mobile telephone. The demographics of mobile-only households are different from those of non-telephone households of 20 years ago. Mobile-only households tend to have higher incomes and be better educated, and are more likely to be employed than non-telephone households.
